Finally got a nice day so I decided to make some air scoops. Took some laps around the track to make sure clearances were ok and nothing was hitting. No stickers yet, gonna probably wait and paint them when the weather warms up or maybe just polish them.

Thanks:D I did save the template in case my son wanted a set. Took about 3 hours and 5 templates to get it where i wanted then i made the real ones. I was thinking of painting them yellow or black, any idea's?

I prefer black myself. It would flow with the side panels and set it off with a few decals.
I've been looking for a set of scoops myself, looking at your quad makes me want them that much more.

well actually come to think about it, find you some carbon fiber sticker stuff and cut them to the right fit and cover the scoops, looks really good, i still have a set laying around somewhere with that done

I 3rd on the black;) Those look really good too! I tried making a set before... let just say I ended up buying some Tinners because they didn't turn out nearly as good as yours.

thanks, the hardest part is getting the correct bends and curves. I used some alluminum house flashing for the templates. It took about 5 tries to get it where i wanted. You can cut the stuff with tin snips and fold it over a sharppiece of ply. heres a picture to give you an idea

I would definitely paint them black.

Reckon they are going to be a hindrance when you try to wash the bike?

Nah its easy to wash with them on. Washed the bike right before I took the pictures.

looks good, not sure what metal you used but i polished my scoops back when i had my 440 and it looked pretty sweet, if you go black they probably wont stand out as much, they would blend in a little bit.

I used aluminum for them, can't remember the thickness off hand so they will polish up nice. If i paint them black the added stickers should set them off.

I plan on making them too, only thing is, when you make a template, its only one side. So when you wanna do the other side you gotta get it exact, right? or is there an easier way to do it

Old Head

The template works for both sides, you just have to flip it and fold the oposite way

They look great! You could make a nice chunk of money selling them on Ebay for $30.00 to $50.00(painted). I aggree with everyone else. Powder Coating them black allows them to blend in and flow with the rest of the quad.
