Ok heres the story.. I know that 400ex's are very cold natured quads from the factory and when you rejet it to a 42 it stars like a charm. I have a HMF pipe and airfilter, not including the cam which doesn't effect air/fuel mixture. My question is how long should i wait to let it warm up from not riding it for a day or two in 5-20 degree weather? I wait about 5-7 minutes and even after i ride it around a little it wants to die on me so should i wait like 10-15 minutes?

And BTW my quad has been rejetted perfectly.

I'd go with the 10 to 15. I usually wait until I can blip the throttle and there is no hesitation then i start to ride and take it easy for 5 min. after that you can ride it like you stole it.

I'd have to agree.

i have the same. i let it warm up for a a few minutes and then i drive around very slowly to let it fully warm up. and like you said it'll bog and jerk for a few minutes until it's nice and warm.

I drive it around slowly in 1st gear for a few minutes and that seems to work well.

there is the best solution. don't let it jsut sit and idle. even when warmign it up, vary RPM's but don't rip on it. just putt around the yard.

my garage is heated, so my 400 starts no problem, i usually wait 2-5 minutes with a little choke, and i put it on no choke till it idles by itself, i blip the throttle too alitte. then i drive it aaround in 1st for like 2-5 minutes and its completely warmed up.

obviously u should wait till it responds to throttle but remember it can take 5 minutes for oil to get to the top of an engine in 32 degree weather so think about that nice expensive cam running dry when you rev it. Imagine waking up after a long sleep and being told to run full speed in freezing weather you're gonna bog a little at first too.
