Go bigger. A 125 will haul you around but the suspension is not going to keep up. At your size a CR250 is more suitable. I am talking from experience not opinion. Sure you can revalve the shock and forks but it will not feel up to par.

soo, just dont push it, know your riding limitations, with a cr125 i think you will be wrecking more, you will have to ride the balls off it to get the power output of a 250, where u can take it easy on the 250 and cruise around til you get used to it

if u wanna do trails in the woods dont get a 125, you could get a 250 2 stroke but if u dont have much experience on bikes you will kill your self, get a 250 4 stroke cauz they are amaizing both on the track and trailes. DONT get a CRF250R!!!. they have tons of valve problems and a few outher problems that are minor. also DONT get a KAL or SUZ!!! they have never been good bikes. Get a YZ250F. the only year they had problems is in 2001, the first year they came out and the only thing you got to do is put in another part, forget what it is but it only costs 180$. I sugest getting a 2003-2004 because they are only like 2300-2800

Can somebody get this kid spellcheck?

It looks like we have a yamaha junkie on our hands, seems like the only bikes you like are yamis. Are you sure there wasn't something you wanted to say about ktm, TM or husqvarna.Yamaha deffinetly has a strong motor, possibly one of the strongest. But they are not bulletproof, It will break sooner or later.

Please, If you are going to go with a 4-stroke, prepare to pay an arm and a leg for an engine rebuild, Really doesnt matter what kind your going to go with. It doesn't seem like your gonna race, even if you were, you would be c-class material, where the 2-strokes are still competitive.223 lbs is not alot at all. I used to ride my kx125 at 260lbs (thank the lord that, that has changed) and it pulled me fine. Now i'm 240lbs and I can easily beat 50% of the 4-strokes in my class.Although a bigger bike would be nice, it is not absolutely neccesary

Like someone said previosly, you will have to ride a 125 all balls out to be competitive. Ive been through two bottom ends, and about four topends in the past year, and ALOT of gear oil. A 250 2-stroke will have usefull power all over the power band, kinda like a 4-stroke, not exactly, but somewhat.

All in all, if i were you i would go with a 250 2-stroke, its always better to grow into something than out of it.

Good luck
Mike

Go with a newer 05 and up yz125s.;) You'll kill yourself on a 250. I'm 6 foot and 200 pounds and I fit fine on my bike. Two stroke for life!

04 was the worst year, 06's and 07's are fine, just do regular maintenance and they will last much longer

my first bike was a cr250 and i was like u 6'1 200 pounds.

and it kicked my ***** all of the time because of ride height.i think a 125 would be a good starter bike.

my 2 cents.
