So would LT PEP shocks off a 450r be ok for a 400ex? They measure 19 3/4".... which LT 400ex shocks would be at 19 1/4". I'm running +3 Premium Burgard a-arms.

Another question I have is the shocks are set up for 165lb rider on +2 a-arms. I need something valved around 125lbs... and since I'm running +3 a-arms would the valving be close to that?

No, I don't think that would be a good Idea, but you could have the 19.75" shock shortened...............ah ha! Buy them, then call Mark Baldwin!

You want to buy mine??

lol! I'm trying to get away without having to send the shocks out anywhere... because if that's the case I'd be almost saving money buy just buying new. So just seeing what the best "money saving" route would be:p

I don't think a 1/2 inch difference in length would be all that big of a deal. I am running PEP shocks off of a 250r on my 400ex. I think the 250r shocks are about 1/2" shorter. It just lowered my ride height a little.

In your case it would likely raise the ride height just a little.

I think the issue will be how similar is the leverage between a +2 450r set up and a +3 400ex set up. I don't know if +2 for a 450r produces the same leverage as +2 for a 400ex. In other words, I don't know if there is a direct correlation in a-arm set ups for the two quads. It could be that +2 for a 450r produces the same or similar leverage as +3 a-arms on a 400ex. Also, if the 450r weighs more the shocks may perform different. A shock valved and sprung for a 165 lbs. rider on a 450r will be stiffer on a lighter quad.

Again, I don't know the answer to the riddle. But, there seem to be alot of variables. I would check with a reputable shock builder and get their opinion before spending the money.

450R weighs less, and i think that you will be fine, but you might run into top mount troubles because i know that you have to modify the stock 450R shocks to fit the 400ex...but overall, i think it will be fine

Thanks for the replys! But I know someone on here must have tried it for them self:ermm: And krt400ex is right... the 400ex weighs more, so actually that might help alittle bit.
