05 or 07??

Ok I am seeing some left over 2005 450r's out on ebay for around 4899 and seeing some 2007 models for 6000-6500 just around at dealers. The question is would you buy an 05 model for the cheaper price and put a new suspension on it and maybe the HRC kit or some other engine upgrades, or would you just buy the 07 and upgrade that? Would there be any benifit to going to the 07 for a higher price? Would the performance be WAY different or would it be close or better on a modded 05?

everyone i know likes the 05 better than the 06/07. i think even chris borich has an 07, but has a 05 front end and carb on it

I think that each have their pros and cons, but personally, I like my 06/07s alot more than my 05. I have alot of experience with both, and honestly, the power difference isn't even close. For your dollar, you are getting way more power out of the newer model bikes. I do believe that the older model 450s handle better all around, though.

It really depends on how you feel about it personally that should determine your decision.

if I was going to buy an 05, it wouldnt be a new one.
the value drops fast on a new atv, but the value on a 2 year old
new atv..................

you can find good used 05's pretty cheap (with goodies)

my personal opinion is also with the 06/07.
they dont turn as sharp, and the e starts act up.
other than that....they have tons of power, hrc really wakes it up.

if your going to race, you will most likely change the arms/axle/shocks, etc. so you will be replacing the worst part of it.

Well, I am not going to be racing. I am going to be riding at the dunes and rec riding most of the time but want to handle well, and want to have enough power to lug my 250lbs around in the trails and up hills. My twin brother (mrnate400ex) has an 07 he just got and my little brother has the 05 with the HRC kit. I have ridden the 05 and like it but have only taken the 07 down the street and back so I couldn't see or feel much difference.

i'll say older model cause i have one :D, nahhh but really i say go new unless you could come across an older one with aftermarket stuff on it for cheap then dont pass up a good deal but really its personal preference like up or down, left or right, paper or plastic, kicker or estart its all the same.
