sqeaky throttle???

I have two '01 400ex's. both have what I would call "sqeaky"
thumb throttles. feels like I'm getting some friction. Would this
be in the cable, thumb throttle....? I have oiled the cables and
it didn't seem to do much.

It could be inside the thumb throttle housing, try taking it apart and make sure everything is working right, or it could be something with your carb. Take the side case off it where the cable is attached, and check out how everything looks in there.

I'll take a look after work tonight.
Just seems weird that I would be having the same problem
with both bikes. I rode my buddies 400 and his throttle is
smooth as butter.
