mud around the plug

what is the easiest/best way to remove mud around the sparkplug so i can get the plug out without stuff falling inside
is there something to put around the plugwire to keep this from happening (i know not riding in the mud helps)

try puting a peace of screen around the spark plug wire to catch anything that trys to fly in there

try an air compressor. if the mud is stuck then use something to scrape it off and then use the compressor to blow away any remaining dirt.
