Heres my story
I want a dirt bike but have no Idea how to pick one out. I have not ridden in 15 years and even then it was one of those honda mini bikes. I am 29 years old am 5ft 8 inches tall and tip the scales at 240lbs. So my question is 125 or 250 or maybe even 450? Any help would be great thanks

Man you are on a spending spree. lol. With the weight your rolling with there 240 same as me I would think that a 250 cc bike should be what you are looking for. As to what brand idk. Honda should be considered but I am sure all manuf. make a decent bike.

125 would not be enough. 250 2 stroke or depending on how much you want to spend, a 450F. theres a really nice 2003 crf450 lurking around here for 2900.

Going to take it to a campground not far from where I live to familiarize myself with it before I go to far from home its the first RV of any type I have ever owned.

okay.
new or used.
how much do you want to spend?
what type of riding are you going to do.
what experience on bikes/wheelers do you have.
would you rather have more maintance or more rebuilds.
so you want a constand delivery of power, or an insane hitting powerband?
is there such thing as too much power?

I am thinking Used

not more that 3500

Dunes and trails.

I ride a YFZ 450 Kind of a newbie
(2 Years)

As for power I dont really know I really like how a 2 stroke hits hard but I also like the constant power of my YFZ.

No such thing as to much in my opinion.

well if you have a yfz, and know how to maintain a new four stroke (air filter cleaning alot, oil/oil filter change every other ride/ check valves) i say go for a used 450.

Where are you located. I have an almost brand new 03 I think Yamaha YZF426. It was my brothers and he bought it as a leftover in the fall of 04. He kept it at our parents and he lived 1/2 hour away so it was barely ever used, weekends here and there at the most. This fall he was killed in a vehicle accident on the way to work. Now its just sitting there and we are looking to get rid of it. The plan was for me to put it in the paper this spring sometime. I'll try to get all the exact info if you are interested.

go with a 250f 4 stroke... perfect beginner bike... they have a ton of power and torque i know alot of guys ur size riding them... if u aren't doin 60ft doubles it'll be fine! i know alot of guys starting out on 450s and if u grab a hand full of throttle the wrong way on one ur goin down...

also get a 4 stroke over a 2 stroke... much much easier to ride for a newer rider... the bikes are so much more forgiving...

i have a 2005 crf250 for sale if ur interested in mint condition...
