I am a recreational rider, thinking about getting some new boots. Anyone ever try the half height MX boots, (Axo Slammer, Thor 50/50, O'Neal Mini boot) Whats your opinion on these, are they any good?

I'm sure they are "ok" for light riding.. but I could never use them.

I don't know how many times my boots have saved me from serious injury.

But the half height boots would definatly be better than normal shoes/boots.

They're made to allow more freedom of movement when you are cramped riding mini's. Since you are a recreational rider, I think they will do fine for you....and have much better support and protection than an ordinary work boot. Full size riding boots aren't that bad either once they get broken in, so the decision is up to you on that.

I use a pair AXO slammer boots to race. It is step up from riding with work boots. I can't stand boots that go above your ankles.
