I think its 82 with stock gearing. Someone can probable help you out with a chart that shows the top speed with different sprockets

Stock gearing is 14/38, but the rev limiter will limit top speed to around 72-75

thanks guys but i wonder why the rev limiter keeps the bike from doing 82 and only does 72 - 75? u would think they wanna make the bike go for all it got and not limit the speed. dont u think so? How would u get it to do the 82mph it is capable of?

It keeps YOU from damaging the motor. It limits the RPMs in all gears in order to prevent the motor from being over revved and blowing up!

Put a 15 tooth front sprocket on. I am going to guess that after you do that you will want to install a aftermarket intake and pipe so you can get to top speed easliy.

Mine has stock gearing with pipe and intake and I know I could pull a 15 tooth front sprocket with ease.

I'm not positive but I believe the orginal chart that I posted above had some small print. It said that the speeds listed were tested with a 150 lbs rider. I also believe that it is capable of hitting 82 with the motor at the rev limiter, but it would be very hard to ever reach the rev limiter in 5th gear. So like others said the top speed you will ever see with stock gearing is gunna be like 70-75

Top Speed

With our hand-held GPS we set out to test the top speed of the Predator. Our test area had a very slight incline to it so we took readings in both directions with a smaller 139 lb rider and with a heavier 185 lb rider. The lighter rider was able to reach a top speed of 73 MPH in the uphill direction and 74 MPH in the downhill direction. The heavier rider was only able to coax 72 MPH out of the Predator uphill and 73 MPH downhill. One thing that both riders immediately noticed when doing top speed testing is that the Predator 500 becomes very twitchy at 70+ MPH and feels much less stable than our highly modified Project Desert Raptor. We think some more caster is needed in the front suspension if you plan on spending much time at these speeds.

Saved a article about 2 years ago over the 500 pred. Forget what website it was. Maybe Atv Scene or something

My 04 Predator came stock with 14/37 gearing & would hit the rev limiter at 75mph according to gps. This with 150lb pilot. I think they upped the rev limit for 05 and went to a 38 tooth rear sprocket to keep the top speed about the same while helping accel. Don't know this for sure. I tried a 36 tooth rear & gps showed 78mph still hitting the rev limiter. More recently I tried friends 24 or 25 inch rears just 4 fun to see what it would do. Wouldn't pull 5th but turns out the reason was they expanded about an inch & were rubbing the heel guards hard. Grooved his tires.:(
