View Full Version : Anyone's back brakes Dragging?

10-21-2001, 11:02 AM
Just changed the back brake pads on my '00 400EX after only about 20 hours! Ripped that junk parking brake off for good, Pushed the piston in far as possible and put the new pads in with the metal shim thing (which btw, didn't even squeak when the pads were gone). Put the new pads on with lots of resistance. And now they drag and heat up my brake system like crazy!

Anyone else had this problem?

Check the rear brake foot lever, the shaft will get crudded up and seize up. Take it out, run some emry cloth over it to clean it up and lube it well. Good Luck!

Check the brake lever like Wheelie said and also check the rotor for excesive wear or warpage. Lube up the slide float pins also. I had that same problem and the only way I could cure it was to put a new rotor on it.
