86 TRX 250R Engine Cut Out After Hard Impacts! Help!

My engine on my 86 Honda TRX250R is cutting out almost exactly 5 seconds after a hard impact. I cant tell if it may be loosing gas or flooding. I have to start feathering the clutch and the gas to get it back to normal. Please let me know if you have had the same problem and what you did to fix it. THanks!

Depends, it could have knocked a jet out, or made the float stuck, check the carb before doing anything to the motor.

I'm guessing your float it sticking as well.

Sounds like a carb problem. I don't really know how a float sticking feels but i remember my breeze would do that and we took it to a dealership and they fixed it. He said it being in the carb. Be it a 4 stroke kids quad or a 2 stroke beast the carbs probably would act the same.

might have trash in the gas tank and when you land the trash sloshes to the petcock

Same thing happened to my old CR125. My floats ended up being out of adjustment and made the motor starve for fuel a few seconds after a jump. I adjusted the floats and replaced the needle valve and never had another problem.

Thanks everyone for helping me single out the problem! I will pull the carb out and check everything and replace everything mentioned.
