For the record and to make things clear ... this ISN'T my quad , nor was I involved in this accident ... I own a Grizzly . I found these pictures on another ATV Forum and the guy who owns the Outlander is from New Brunswick . He reported that no one got hurt , except for the Outlander and his bank account .

I just snapped these pictures this morning out at our ice shack . I guess some guys in the shack next to us got tipsy lastnight and decided to go riding , there's the results ...

even seeing pistures of a wrecked sled makes me want to go riding sooo bad. It'l be 3 years since i've been able to take it out if i don't get a chance to make it home this winter

Garandman ... that white sh*t is something I have to deal with for the next 3 months . :grr:

Oh and on the same lake that this sled was wrecked lastnight , some kid sunk his quad in the lake and another guy sunk his truck in the lake ... 04 Silverado . They worked all day getting the truck out . People have to learn to stay away from pressure cracks and open water .

Here's a picture of the truck underwater !!!!

I'm feeling your pain, bro.

I guess on tle flip side, I get to put up with nasty red clay several times during the year.

garandman, our stumps are stronger :p

Question for all of those asking about insurance, why would you claim on your own insurance? It'd only put your rates up... so you'd pay for it for a lot longer....

I thought it was bad when I bent the a-arm on my ute hitting a rock! That is a sweet fish hut btw (the camper!)

Quad18star

NorthernRider ( I always forget your name) .... yeah that was on Whitewater . Some kid went into the drink with his quad ( some 16 year old) , this guy went into the drink with his truck ( could have been deadly , he escaped through the window and his leg got caught) and someone smashed up their machine by hitting the municipal dock ( stupidity , they were trying to use it as a jump) .

Whitewater can be a scary place sometimes ... early in the season you have guys racing back and forth on the sleds criss crossing eachother , this time of year there's a pressure crack , then there's always the drunks that smash their sleds . :ermm:

Rip_Tear .... that's our ( group of friends) ice hut . We use it to party during the winter . It looks small , but can seat 8 people comfortably .

Our previous hut was a lot better , but we accidently burnt it down to the ground a few years ago . I guess we stoked the fire a little too much before we left and all the ash in the chimney caught fire ... it didn't help that we had a 5 gallon can of motor oil sitting beside the stove either . When we got there the next morning , all that was left was the woodstove , the door handle , the lock , axle and rims ... NOTHING else . It was a big fire from what I was told from people that saw it burn . :macho

I just got a call from our local police department ...they seen the pictures of the sled that I took and they want me to go show them exactly where the pictures were taken at 4:30 this afternoon . Looks as though the snowmachine was stolen . :macho

As for the truck , I know the person that owns it ... they received a bill for just under $10 000 to recover the truck from the bottom of the lake . :ermm:

01-25-2007, 04:05 PM
Thats one hell of a bill.

How much dose he think to make her as it was befor it was on the bottom of the lake?

The truck was mint before it went into the water , and it was actually still in mint condition when it was laying in the bottom of the lake . However , when the recovery guys came out with the trucks to get it out , they totally destroyed the Chevy .

They put the cable through the cab , which in return shattered every window , then as it was almost out , a cable slipped and the truck nose dived grill first into the ice and rolled sideways . In the end , they ended up pulling it out with all 4 wheels pointing to the sky and they sat it down on the ice on it's cab ... then had to pull it back onto it's wheels . End result ... Totally destroyed !!!!!:macho

He payed 10 grand and they destroyed it? Does he have full coverage?

Yeah he has full coverage on the truck , but insurance doesn't cover you when you leave the pavement and get onto a frozen lake ... when you do that it's " Use at Own Risk" .

The could could have been a LOT higher . They were thinking that they may have needed a helicopter to lift it out . Choppers around here don't leave base unless they know they are gone for atleast 3 hours ... and that's almost $10 000 an hour for a recovery helicopter .

They had no choice but to spend the money ... the Ministry of Environment gave them a grace period of a couple days and then the fines would have come out . Minimum fines for polluting a lake are like $50 000 !!!!

01-26-2007, 09:10 AM
that sucks....i would have loved to see them pull it out though...it would have been funny:D

01-26-2007, 09:39 AM
that would have sucked ***.

I cant imagine that happening to your sled let alone your truck that you treasure.

50,000 grand in fines. YIKES. if my truck ever falls throu the ice im kicking some snow over the hole and leaving it there and hope no one saw.

01-26-2007, 09:46 AM
Thats what i was thinking. and it would be called in stolen the next day.

Do ppl always take there trucks on that lake? or was he the 1st one this year to try it out?

The pic would be funny if there was some beer cans floating around it.

Guys are always out there with trucks and cars . I take my car out all the time . This guy had taken the same route a couple days before and things were fine ... but within a couple days , a pressure crack formed and it opened up about a 10 foot wide area of water . We had cold temps so it formed a thin layer of ice and we had blowing snow , so it covered the area well . When he went over , 1 tire sunk down , then another , then the whole truck took a plunge . Nothing he could do to help it . :ermm:

01-26-2007, 11:03 AM
Was he pretty shaken up? Thats a pretty big loss.
