TRX350 Tranny Troubles

I recently overhauled a 2001 TRX350FM and when I went for test ride, reverse worked, neutral indicator on when not in neutral, and I have one forward gear. I have now dismantled the engine again to look at the transmission for problems and I have found that the mainshaft bearing I had installed in the rear crankcase does not have the stamped side up like the other bearings. Could this be the problem? It seems that it is raised above the face of the crankcase more than the others. Thanks for any input!!

Yes, reverse the bearing the way it should be. Small differences like that can cause problems just like you're experiencing. When troubleshooting ALWAYS make sure everything is put together correct. If you ever see something that doesn't look right or looks "off" fix it. I've spent a lot of time fixing problems before because I've told myself "ohh, this doesn't look right, but that probably isn't causing the problem." Turns out it was. Now I know better.
