Cannonball Run and the BMW M6

has anybody heard of the cannonball run. If you haven't it's a race the goes acroos america. The cars that enter this race are only porsches, bmw, ferrari, lambo, etc. Only fast ones. The winner or first one to get to las vegas wins a saleen s7. I got invited to go with my friends dad and him. They just got a brand new BMW M6 Convertible. What do you goes think about this car?

yeah its 100% illegal. bunch of crazy rich guys will get like 10 tickets on the way their. some will go to jail for going so fast over the speed limit. their is a movie out that you can rent

I read there website and it says you can make all the check points by still going the speedlimit, but you also have to have a avreage speed over 61MPG:confused: Most speed limits (unless interstates) are 60 and below)

So I am guessing the race isn't illegal since they stat you can make everything by going the speed limit. Sounds cool wish I could do it. I would put the ranger in it.:macho

Is there a way to know the track they are going to take ahead of time? I would like to know if they are going to drive by my home citie. Which I belive the New York start will since the line is going through fort wayne and the only major highway going east to west is 30 in that area:devil:

If they take US 30 into Columbia City the Cops will be having a good ole time:devil: Its a bad speed trap and the cops hate speeders.:scary:

It's a rally run so going under the time is as bad as going over the time alloted. It's not like the cannonball run movies where the first one there wins. It's who gets there closest to the time alloted.

i think that car is awesome.. i've only seen one... my friends dad had the 645, which looks like the m6 kinda.. its nice.. he sold it and got the bentley GT

Basically looks like you can get away with going fast because of the amount of cars doing it. I would love to go on that.

ok listen this race legal. they just say for you to go the speed limit just so the could publicize it and have people enter. People basically just go like 160-200 the whole time. Yea, the M6 is hot, it has a governer at 155, but there is a performance shop in my town that will take it off for us. Plus, the driver said that if he has to he will get Twin Turbo. He is already getting borla exhaust and some other mods, but Twin Turbo would be crazy. Its gonna be a great time, we will be racing ferraris and many other hot cars. BTW you caqn start in either some town in NH, New York, Washington DC, or Miami. We are starting in New York. And I have seen the DVD, you guys should see it.

hahaha, oh and by the way, there are many crashes in this race. Last year there was a bad one that involved a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale if you know what that is.

yea bikes can enter, get the movie called Mischeif 3000 its a documentary style homemade movie that these guys made on there run, its known as the Gumball 3000 now, its run by some rich english dude named Maxamillion. i have the mischeif movie and its sick, there are some bad***** cars that are in that race, there is a highway race between a 360 and a twin turbo supra, the 360 got the hole shot but once the supra built boost it was gone, they hit about 210 and let off, some dude in a Ruff comes up behind two trucks holding up traffic ones tring to pass the other, its right by a truck stop. the dude in the ruff just drives throught the truck stop off to the side and passes the 2 trucks that way, he was doin about 100 through the truck stop and came out in front of the semis. they do some crazy ****. you get to see people accually "drive" there ferraris, its pretty.

u see some bikes, u see limos, all kinds of stuff. every check point is a party, usually a hotel i believe. ull definetly be gettin alot of tickets, which leads to high insurance. they call it the gumball 3000 cuz its around 3000 miles. id def have it shipped home and fly back.

it would suck on bikes cuz ud be so cramped up, plus no relief drivers

M6 is a mad nice car and that run would be a lot of fun to do.

the problem is finding the time to do it, and not to a mention a car that would even come close to keeping up with those guys.

The Gumball Rally isn't always in the US. I think the one that the Jackass crew was in was the Gumball Europe. You guys are thinking that its a matter of speed. Well, it is in most cases but you have to be careful not to get pulled over at the same time. If you do 180 all the way and then get hauled off to jail, you're going to kill your time. If you're doing 120 and get stopped and go through all the questioning and ticketing, you eat up time that way. Its not just who can go the fastest or who has the fastest car.

In the first one, an m3 was ahead all the time but kept getting tickets. He eventually ran off the road and was out of the race.

There are other rallys that do this same thing. There was a tv show on MTV that showcased a few racers. I think it might have been truelife or whatever it is.

Dood my dad is trying to find a bmw 850 around here. There mad nice but they stopped makin em in 99. There is one on ebay that the guy is selling and he is thinking of going up to NY to look at it. Guess whos driving the other bmw back.:D I think it would be cool to do. I would want to do it on a street bike tho.

the getting pulled over is where alot of people are wrong over half the time the cops jsut let them go i mean how the heck are you gonna catch a 200mph lambo in a police crusier :p i mean damn the lambo wouldnt even let off i know i wouldnt if i was driving i mean the cruiser gonna hit 140 maybe but catching someone thats easily going faster than that from a dead stop is a lost cause to me:confused:

Radios travel faster then 200 MPH:p Helicopters can find you anywere. Expecially when you are taking a certain course to a checkpoint:ermm:

there is a guy on mischeif driving a Ruff and he is beating the radio, he was pushing 200. the only reason these people pull over is because money doesnt matter to them, they just want to show off the highest speeding ticket. theres a guy in a ferrari that when a cop tries to pull him over he rolls down the window and throws out 100 $1 bills while hes driving down the highway. there are some cities that the gumball passes through that the cops just escort them through at aroud 90 or so, just to get them through there city with out much trouble.

hopefully they will do that for us, and for the guy who said have fun trashing the m6, maybe your right, there might be some bumper problems and paint chips and stuff but hey, if you pay the 10,000 dollars to enter the car, if there are paint chips and stuff, the cannonball run covers all of that. So there is no problem. Plus, for the other person who said the m6 cant hang with ferrari's you definetly dont know what your talking about. The m6 is governed electronically at 155. We already took the speed limiter off and hit 175 the other day. And it still had more. So, the guys at the bmw dealership said the it can reach 200 easily. Anyway, the owner of the m6 said, if he has to around when race time comes, he will get a twin turbo thrown in it. The guy is made rich. Borla exhaust system is already installed on this car, which gvies 30+ hp. So in my opinion, since i have been in the car and most of you non car people havent, the m6 can hang with most ferraris, and lambos.

we are not running in the gumball 3000 people. That is in europe. We are running in America in an event called the Cannonball Run. I no the cops in Italy have Lambos, but in Missouri somewhere, they have 4 Dodge Viper Henesseys.

i have been following these type of races for years now (im 20 now, but ive been interested since a movie SPEEDZONE that i grew up watching).

I have seen all the Teckademics Mischeif videos with dado driving the BMW. There is ALOT of misconceptions here as to what this race really is... Players run, Gumball rally, Cannonball run = all the same stuff... From what i have seen, the Players run seems to do more fun stuff along the way... but thats jus my opinion.

1st off - MOST of the people doing all the ignorant nonsense arent even american citizens, they are RICH (ridiculous) people from germany that own car dealerships... (therefore, they arent NECCESARILY succeptable to our traffic laws) considering they shell out the loot for the right lawyer...

2nd - i have a feeling that the more this type of nonsense goes on, the less the "slapping of the wrist" type of punishment will happen...

3rd - most of the things are now races against the clock like bracket drag racing - you are to drive as close to a 61mph average as possible - closest one wins... (taking all the fun out of driving like a fool)

Now, for anyone that is actually interested in doing something like this legally - set a car up and find an Open road race... I forget the sanctioning body that does it but we participated in an event called the "big bend open road race" in Texas. The race was 60 miles of closed down road and it works the same as the others above - 100mph average class - all the way up to UNLIMITED, and let me tell you the people that ran unlimited class had some straight ignorant cars that ranged from tony stewarts practice nascar (got beat BADLY - lol) to twin turbo vettes that were so wound up they sounded like streetbikes !

sorry for the long post, i just get sick of people watching the movie once, and thinking they are going to just go drive across the country - it takes discipline, and stamina to drive a car THAT FAST, for THAT LONG... Good luck :devil:

yea i am not one of those people. I have not seen any of the videos, other than the imv films videos. Those are awesome. The guy who is going to be driving the m6 is an american citizen and yes he is really rich. Also, I have been following the Gumball, Cannonball Run, Bull Run, and Players, for a very long time. So I am not one of those people that sees the movie once and just wants to go. We went already last, year and it was great. We got 1 ticket. The thing is that we got murdered because we were in a Mercedes CLK55 AMG. It was a really nice car, but obviously wasnt fast enough. So, the guy upgraded! And look at our ride now. The new 2007 BMW M6 Cabriolet. Its gonna be great.

Lets see a pic of the m3 is it compeletly stock or has he had stuff done to it. A good place to get parts is Bavarian Auto Sports they have all the best in my experince fitting parts. There headers give my bmw 528i i nice low end pull.
