im about to order some new muffler packing for my gytr pipe, but im not sure what to get. theres a few different types ive seen. multi layer, fiberglass, and wool seem to be the most popular. any brand you guys can suggest? ive never replaced muffler packing before and im not sure if it matters what i get.

I use MSR Race-Tex packing. I dont ride all that much, so I typically do mine once a year.

It seems to hold up relatively well.

One thing i've experienced, is that when you think you have enough, it's not even close. pack that stuff in there good.

i just got some moose fiberglass packing from a local place. it was the exact length of my pipe and fit perfect. made the tone a little deeper, sounds nice.

ya a local dealer wanted 35 bucks for packing for my pipe, i got the moose stuff for 6 bucks at a local parts place. some of the prices at dealers are nuts, they wanted 5 bucks for a lugnut!!

yea, i agree on dealers have outrageous prices on some things. But in my opinion some things are better stock than aftermarket. but a 24$ difference is totally obsurd.
