How Tight?

I had my cylinder bored and the sleeve is a little loose. I heated it and the sleeve slid into place but if you hit it with a rubber hammer it will come out. you have to hit it pretty hard. How tight does it need to be?

i dont know any facts about it, but one would think it should be very tight.

it should press in....with a press..lol i wouldnt think it should be that loose? ill try to find out

Castor is correct... it should have to be pressed in. The sleeve should be 0.012 larger than the jug. If you can remove or move the sleeve with a rubber mallet then you need a bigger sleeve or the person who bored that jug made it too large for your sleeve. Get it checked out. It will cause you problems down the road.

Thanks Guys, I think your right, I guess I will have to pay to have a oversized sleeve installed. What a bunch of BULLSH*T. It goes to show you never go to a crappy little shop like I did. It ends up costing more and they screw everything up (RPS RACING BLOWS)

I didn't get a chance to call sam coe but I did ask others,C&D, Quadshop,Terry at Marcums, I decided to have the oversize sleeve installed. The owner of the shop said He did,t even think we got back the same cylinder!!! And I should pay? right I still think they are trying to screw me but I need it done, It's not over till it,s over, I have never filed a suit , this could very well be the first time.

Hey ski do yourself a favor anf cut your losses now. If you are gonna be paying for the machinists mistake then just bring everything (new sleeve included) to someone else. At least you know the new guy didnt screw you uup once already.

Just my .02 but I hate to be taken by this type of guys.
