For thos who have received their 525's already, what is your impression and what was your previous quad (and how does it compare)?

Still taking her easy during break-in, but I can tell there is more torque, smooooth clutch, narrower tank area, and just more comfortable then my '05 Pred. Sounds better, too.

We have a trade in LTR 450 so we dragged raced it about 5 times vs the 525 and the 525 got it every time.

Here is a link to Raptorforum.com from a guy who just bought an Outlaw 525 and says it is faster than his 700. This guy is no slouch either. He has some seriously nice bikes including his 804 stroker Raptor.

I've never been able to figure out why people judge a quad on what it can do in a straight line drag race.
I mean, who cares if a quad can beat a Raptor or built LT500 in a drag race. Put them offroad where they belong....that will seperate the real race quads from the toys! :macho

One guys says "I'll throw a roost at that ugly piece of $*!^"
Does he mean the will put a rooster on the handle bars at night so it will have a place to roost?

The intelligence level seems to be through the roof in that thread. I was just laughing about it and commenting at predowners.... I don't understand closed minded people who cant see past their own little opinions!

I'm your classic Polaris hater. Mainly due to the fact that I had a couple friends that owned late 90's Scrambler 400 2-strokes.. lol. Those things were an engineering disaster.. lol.
But that being said.. I think this quad really shows that Polaris is getting more than serious about our market (finally).
As of a month ago.. I was planning on getting either an LT-R450 or KFX450 this summer.
Odds are I will be getting an Outlaw 525 (depending on how the chassis holds up, I know the motor will be fine). My buddies will be giving me hell.. but only until they get smoked. (Heck, I smoke most of them in the trails & track on my 330ex anyway.. lol)

Yeah, my buddies gave me a little hell when I looked at the Predator last year (which I didn't buy) but not one has said a thing about the 525. Seeing it in person the other day, I was very imprssed with the fit and finish! Now, when mine gets here, I will have a chance to test the performance!

If you have to say you are impressed with fit and finish. That says alot.-not in a good way.1 day they may be on par with Kymco.lol

Actually it does say a lot and also in a good way. It says that Polaris has finally taken the sport quad market seriously and they have stepped up their quality in that area rather than mainly being focused on the ute market.

Well 700yellowraptor, woops meant 699.99raptor, oh wait now it is lappy. Sorry for my confusion, you have been banned so many times for unproductive mean comments and gone by so many names I get confused.
But your closed minded, narrow visioned personality comes through on whatever screen name you choose.
If people are saying that they are impressed with fit and finish that means something. Especially when it has been stated so many times by so many people. And a lot of these people are not Polaris owners.
Sorry you are feeling threatened by the new Outlaw 525 but you are just going to have to deal with it. Nobody is going to fall for your Polaris is trash statements anymore.

I know that dragging through the parking lot isn't a true test of a machine but its the best I could do with 7 inches of snow on the ground. When it thaws out we'll give one a good workout.
Must be more 525's out there. Still waiting on my outlaw.First ship date 1/16 got pushed back to 1/30.Sucks but what do ya do? Any one else with same shipping issues?I like snow back ground with pic on page 1.:)

Mine was supposed to ship on the 22nd but it didn't ship until the 24th (no big deal) but now I am just wainting on the driver to show up here in Ohio.... Hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday!
:) My bike might hopefully be on same truck. southwest of you.lov, KY. Most of my goodies are here but no bike. :(

Same with me, my bolt-on's are here, just waiting on a home!
CORRECTION: They have a home now! I just got the call from the dealer saying it was in and would be ready for me to pick up tonight. Unfortunately I can't make it down there today so I will have to do it at lunch tomorrow....

I got to ride mine some this weekend. Man what a rush! She is muddy now though!
I do not think anyone can be disappointed in this quad.

So how does it accelerate? Come on, man.....give us a REVIEW!!!!
(Pretty please)...
I'm liking one wheel pull on the IRS. Must be just firm enough. not too much cush. sway bar on board! Lookin good!! Keep the pics and feedback coming!!!

Once I learned to keep my hands off of the throttle when trying to start it it fires up instantly. 20 degrees Sat. morning and it fired right up.
Like everyone has said the hydraulic clutch is great. The lever is adjustable on it, which makes it awesome since I have short stubby fingers. The clutch pulls just like my street bike does and grabs hard. The reverse is a piece of cake to engage and use.
Like the other Polaris bikes the e-brake is on the front wheels and uses the hydraulic system instead of the cable system like the others use. I know no big deal but coming from Yamahas to have an e-brake that will actual work after it leaves the dealer is a big deal.
The shifter is a little long and tucked close to the bike but I am starting to get use to it. Neutral isn't terribly hard to find but not terribly easy either. I would rank it about dead even with the Raptors. I can go to neutral almost every time by going from 2nd down to neutral rather than up from 1st.
The steering link is now massive. You will have to nail something pretty hard to break this one. The radiator shroud now has some space between it and the radiator. The seat seems to be on really tight now. You will still get scratches on your rear rims though.
Like Jeff said the stock exhaust sounds surprisingly good. A lot louder than I expected under power.
I have noticed the advantages of the IRS, especially when jumping. Lands really nice. It hooks up coming out of the corner and you better be holding on. This thing will launch out of a corner instead of sliding out of the corner, absolute blast.
I think everything you have heard about the power is true. Still breaking mine in but from what I can tell, it has a smooth power that pulls hard.

Compressed the suspension pretty good here, but it felt surprisingly soft!

Picked mine upat lunch today and now I have to watch it sit in the back of the truck out of my window until I get home. I got my bumper on already though and my bars, clamp, and rear grab bar are sitting in my house right now! I may get a few pics up tonight but we will see.....

Ok, the pics are not good because it was dark by the time I got home from work but at least there is something.... I did get my bars, bumper, and grab bar put on but I am still waiting on the AC propegs.... (and didn't get the new grips on yet either, forgot grip glue...)

The Pics look awesome!! Mine should be in this week or the first part of next week. I sure hope it is this week, so I have it for the weekend!
I wish they would'nt put all those dam warning stickers on. It takes away from the all BLACK bad *** look. I had a 06 Outlaw 500 and sold it for this and I can't wait anymore.
What ticks me off is that one of the members here got his in Green Bay and I am in central WI and mine is not at my local dealer. Dirty dogs must send them to the farthest places first and the closest last!! LOL

There will definitely be no ride report or break in this weekend. It is not supposed to be out of single digit temps so my ***** is staying inside!!!!

It is going to be a cold sucker too in WI, but I have to get it out of my system if it comes in by the weekend! I just have to feel that KTM.

Tell me about it! I've got 6" of snow waiting for me in my backyard, but it is too cold to ride! Where is this "global warming"?
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Just got mine!! sweet!!! :( TOO COLD!!!! was on pred, site and was reading about rad, shroud rubbing lower outer tanks.Both sides. Confirmed must shim out . Installing twist ,nerfs,bumpers etc. :D :D
eerhard09
01-31-2007, 11:27 AM
SKOT, there is no need for the shims on the 525, they put in a little rubber spacer on them to keep the shrouds away from the radiator. Check it out on your's, you will see what I mean.

I posted that pic over there to show that there was now a gap on the 525. Shouldn't be a problem anymore. On the '06 500 the shroud was touching the radiator causing the rub issue.

I got a sweet little phone call today. I picked up the 525 after work and all I can say is "WOW" Dirt Wheels did a write up on the 525 and stated that the power difference between the 500 and 525 is noticable but not night and day. What a bunch of garbage! It is more like summer and winter here in WI.
The KTM never stops pulling from 1st to 4th, I did not have a chance to get into 5th yet, that will be for the weekend. It is a serious rush!!! I could'nt be happier. The power is what I was after and boy did I find it.
I did notice that Neutral is easier to get into after the bike is good and warmed up, as I did have a problem when it was cold going from 1st to neutral. I have the Trailtech Vapor, Polaris handguards and hand and thumbwarmers to put on and I will be set.

when you get it installed. I would really like to see it. Did you get the one for the 500 and did you have any problems putting it on the 525?
