Std shocks on Long Travel +1 Arms? Possible?

Hello all,

I have a 400EX and I have a chance to get a set of Burguard +1 Long Travel A-arms, but I only have a set of standard length Elkas.
Will this work? WIll I damage the shocks?
I only trail ride so can I get away with this setup until I can save up enough to get the proper long travel shocks?

The shock is way to short, the leverage ratio is way off, the atv will sit way too low, and many many other problems..
