I am running a 450r header on my bike now. The carb will switch as well.

if you run the carb make sure it's off an 06 or else you're killing the power potential of the CRF motor. The 04/05 carbs weren't anything to write home about but the 06 uses an FCR similar to what the CRFs come with stock. Most 04/05 TRX owners will run a CRF carb on there bike. But to answer your ? it should work.

Say what???? All the CRF450R's used FCR carbs! Only until 2007 did Honda go to the 41MM size FCR carb. All previous years were 40MM.

You're probably right all I know is that one of the most popular mods for the TRX when it came out in 04 was to throw a CRF carb, ignition and cam on it. As far as knowing for sure what carb was on the 04/05s I'm clueless, lol. Just trying to lend what little knowledge I have here.
The '04-05 TRX's used the butterfly style Keihin carb, in '06 they switched over to the FCR carb.

I couldnt figure out why the crf450 had a 40mm carb until 07 and then the 450r had a 42mm carb in 04 and 05 then they switched it to 40mm on the 06 model. So I went ahead and bought a 05 450r carb.
