Which is faster

Me and a buddy in class got into a disagreement on what is faster. Either a full race 450r or a race banshee on a MX track not drags?

I'd imagine you can squeeze more horsepower out of a Banshee...but I'd also imagine that it would be hard to use that extra horsepower efficeintly on an MX track.

It also seems to me that the 450R's geometry is a lot nicer for an MX track. Maybe thats why you more 450R's on the track than Banshee's...? hehe.

Don't foget...Banshee shocks suck! lol.

All things equal...it comes down to the rider....but this goes with any sort of race.

You would have to put a lot of money into a banshee suspension to equal the 450's stock suspension. You can throw on a set of pipes and have a super fast banshee but the power is hard to control, and probably even harder on a tight track. My vote is this........apples to apples, you want to race in a straight line, a banshee is hard to beat, want to ride MX, 450R all the way.

i agree with everyone else so far. you can get a lot of power out of a banshee, but they will not handle near as well as the 450r on the mx track. look at the facts, the 450r was designed as an mx race quad from the beginning. the banshee was built for fast, straight lines...dune cruising and drag racing. stock for stock, or both modified, i only see the 450r coming out on top. only way i see it any other way would be between the riders.

in im probably gonna offend alot of people but lately (meaning after the ex's and z's came out) banshees are overrated and the four bangers have only gotten bigger and better while the banshee has been unchanged with its weak suspension and stiff throttle and peoples gonna argue to the end that just because its a 2 stroke its the meanest thing ever but theres a reason they quit making 2 strokes and its not because theyre too mean.

i had a banshee they suck on a track compared to the 450's... 450's have much usable power and alot more low power.. hate waiting for the powerband.. i like on tap power out of the corner.

I dont think anyone should take offense to your opionions. Some people would rather drive a 69 Camaro than a 06 Corvette. This is kind of the same situation. The banshee is capable of ripping your arms off in a straight line, the 450 can too, and handle like a dream!

I own a basnhee and a 450r the banshee is a 2000 with cpis full drag port, stroked,carbs welded crank and i own my stock 450r (which is only a month old) i orderd the pipe already im hoping to make it beat banshees with just pipes, but compair them to trail wise and how it rides the 450r gets his points, but when it comes time to line it up the banshee takes over, but also my 450s stock and the banshee isnt, so im compairing to diffrent animals, also on a banshee the sky is the limit you can have a 4mill stroker or the new 20mill, on a honda you dont have as much as choices as you do with the banshee, as far as i kno, Like i said b4 my goal would be to make my 07 450r faster then a banshee with pipes with light port work

if the same rider was to ride the track on the bikes if the banshee was moded or not and the 450r was stock the 450r would kill the banshee on lap times ive rode both and it takes alot to handle a banshee on the track

the banshee has such a short power curve and it spikes so hard
that it waists it in tire spin so it dosent get to the ground.

the 4 strokes have a nice long torque curve that builds to a nice peak (not as high but more useable) losing alot less in wheel spin.

drag race a banshee on dirt and you wind her up and dump it and wait for the tires to bite, the 450r can be short shifted and get most every ounce of power to the ground.

the superior rear suspension plays a good part in keeping the tires planted and digging.

I raced a friends drag banshee down a really ruff strip and took him by 1 1/2 lengths. (on smooth or sand its not even worth waisting his fuel)

and you dont see "grave digger" running the 1/4 mile drag strip.

sure it may run good, and spend the money to put a viper to 4x4
and you have "the exception"

run the banshee straight/dunes
play with the 450 everywhere.

i think in accdeleration the banshee wins, but in top speed idk it would be pretty close. If each quad was fully modded out, the r ight bet the banshee in top speed.
