i had a yfz head shaved because of a bad water jacket.....they removed .009 off the head and my Q is what compression is this engine now.....it has a 12.5 piston in it

so......009 removed on a 12.5 piston

i [read] that .009 is the same as one layer of the head gasket.

com'on buck- you should realize nobody really gives a hoot about yfz's in this TRX450R section... ask again in the other section- will ya, danggit! To much clutter making our way through some of the BS as it is man without BIG BLUE shiznit here too.......

I could be mistaken...but I believe every .010 is worth .5 compression points...

So I'd say you are at or around 13:1.

thanks

if thats right i can shave my trx head .010 and have 14.6
compression......or take .020 and have 15.1

i wonder if there even any power gain going from 14.1 to 14.5:ermm: probably not

Before even thinking about doing something like that...I'd measure the piston to valve clearance to see how much room I have to play with.

Clay checks would be a good idea.

Definitely don't want that pretty piston slapping those valves...
