300ex front shocks on 250ex? Bottom Mount?

The bottom mount is about 1/8 of an inch to narrow. I can't get the eye in the mount. Is it okay to pry the mount open slightly.

I was under the impression(from other posts) that they should bolt right up.

Sorry, forgot to mention they are 2007 300ex shocks on a 2006 250ex.
