im looking into another 310 or 330 big bore.. If I went with the 330 I want to buy it requires the use of a long rod crank. If I were to put the 330 jug on my 1986 bottom end. Then I should i fine because thats a long rod right? If not what do I need to do. Thanks!

stock it wasn't a long rod, but many put in long rods when they rebuild the motor. I don't recommend the 330 bolt-on, you only get 2 bores on it and it runs very hot. I would get a 310pv, I had a 330 bolt-on, my lrd 310pv is far better. I preffered a well ported stock cylinder over the 330 bolt-on!!!

I would definitely go smaller bore like suggested and do the powevalve motor, it is fast! Last one I rode was a 310 CT powervalved motor and it was one of the fastest R's I've ever ridden.

Save your $, get the 310 PV. The true 330 needs to have the cases machined to fit as well. What ever you do, don't short cut and get the 330 bolt on kit that dose not need the case mod.
