z400-time for 450?

I have a basically stock z400. I am ready to start putting money into it. My question is, has anyone much time on any of the 450's? If so, do you think it's better to pep up the z400, or perhaps just go up to a 450? And which one? I'm a ex- mx racer formthe 250r days. But the new bikes are new to me?

what are you going to be riding trials or track. I ride all trials with the track a little. I have never had a problem yet. but if you are racing alot just get a 450

I play ride, but first choice is hopping on the mx track and going after it. From my old 250R racing days. I learned suspension and handling is the biggest improvement you can make you go faster. My z400 stock even has enough power to push from a corner to a jump. Motocross is just so different. I have to say, i like the reverse in the 400.
There's so much debate for a yz or lt 450. It' stough to go through the pros and cons. I think $2K into the z400 will get be a better mx bike over spending the extrax $2K to get a stock Yz or LT 450??????

i was having the same problem as you...i didnt want to see my z400 go, but i am so happy i chose to get a lt-r450 and sold that....but the main reason i got it is to ride/race motocross. for $40 on top of the cost of the ltr, you can throw a cherry bomb on, take the baffle out, and remove the airbox lid and right there you gained about 6 or 7 horsepower.....i love it. hope this helps..

im usually the first person to say get a 450 and ditch the 400, but if your happy with the 400's power, and u wanna sink $2,000 in suspention, i think that would be a better choice, i mean a nice wide, low quad with after market shocks will be better then a stock yfz/lt-r anyday, if you where going to get a yfz and put on a front end, etc, then thats a different story
