the story goes the ride was going fine it was wet and muddy about 1/2 way through the ride i here my chain MAKING Nosies i ignored it for a while, then i gave it a burst of throttle and the bike makes a bad griding noise i turn off the my 400ex and look at the front sprocket and all the teeth a stuffed on it. \I think i bought them on late 2004 i think.

Seems to me like your chain may have been a notch too loose.

Ya same thing happened to me not to long ago...i learned my lesson though. Bought new chain and sprockets and im going to monitor the wear much closer than i did before so i dont end up stuck out on a trail somewhere.... Kinda ruins your day lol.

I have experience with this from stuntriding (streetbikes)

You need to replace ALL of your drivetrain, because all of it will be warn in some way from something going wrong... Also, dont skimp on the chain type - (you get what you pay for) Keep the chain lubed religiously (it helps) and dont keep the chain too loose, or too tight (either is just as bad).

The coolest thing i have ever seen was my buddies R1 destroy a rear sprocket at night - he got on it, and it destroyed every tooth... Looked like fireworks ! :eek2:
