13 is stock so if your going to go smaller on the tires you need to go bigger on the front sprocket to compensate for the smaller tire and slower top end. The 700s come from the factory with 14 and alot of us go to 15.

that depends on what you want out of it... acceleration or top speed?

they beauty of it is that primary drive makes a dang good sprocket and they are only like 6 bucks, so you can always experiment with them and see what you like...

agreed! there are gearing calculators online somehwere though to help you, i dont remember where though and i have limited access at work, but just do a search on here and you should find one. out of curiosity, what will you be running on the front? i cant remember what im running exactly, but i think im running 1 up on the rear with 18's. its ok but i wish i ran a larger rear, though 2nd gear starts are plenty easy i jus tnever get to top speed. hope this helps

18s are not 1 up in the rear....

i beleive stocks frons are 21s, and stock rears are 20s... suzuki put the 18s on the ltr...

yes, but i didnt say that i am one up on the rear because of my tire size. rather that i run 1 up and that i run 18's

That combo will hit top speed (not much of a top speed either) with a quickness.... if that's what you want, then cool.

you mean my setup? its not that much different top speed than stock, if i remember right the theoretical top speed is about 6mph less with my setup than stock. 1st gear is pretty short now though, 2nd gear starts are pretty easy but then they arent hard with a stock raptor anyways. i have no idea how fast it will go 5th gear pinned, i have nothing to accurately compare it to. i do have a problem with wheelspin though. its good for the smaller mx tracks i have been running and decent for most of the stuff i have been running.

I was referring to the 18" tires with a 12 tooth sprocket.

all i use my bike 4 is to ride mx tracks and i have a short makeshift track in my yard that me and my buddies race on, not much but its fun. Rite now it has slic stock 20s on it and piped/jetted and i cant get out of 2nd, 2nd gear is so long though on a raptor.

I cant get out of second in my yard is what im referring to

You just answered your own question, go for it. I wish I could nail down my combo, but I can't up here in the northeast. So much terrain that varies, I'm going to be running 21" rear tires with a 13 tooth sprocket, so i can have ground clearance and still open it up on the straightaways.

sounds like a good combination for you, or atleast a good starting point.

dan- im looking at a new set of tires for ground clearance, what are you running and how are you liking it? i have been looking at the holeshot hd's but i really want the maximum grip and clearance that i can get for my next set. i still wont be able to get pegged out on speed almost ever but i will adjust gearing for that. anyone running tall tires?

I was running 22" Realters out back, i still got them but might just save them for snowy days. But, they gave me some more clearance over the stock tires. I had stock front tires/wheels up until the other day and I just put Hiper rims with 22x7x10 Holeshot XCR's (1" taller than stock (actually it'll only raise the front end a 1/2" )), and I ordered my Hiper rear rims and Kenda Knarly 21" XC rear tires last night. I did a LOT of asking around and the Kendas are the lightest tires, the GNCC tire is light too but doesn't last as long. I'm assuming i can continue to run the 13 tooth sprocket, since the 21" tire will change the gearing in a way.

not that i would use them but anyone ever thought about the new ITP mudlite SP, they come in 20''. I like them but not 4 what i ride in. I think theres a good concept behind them. Just a thought

dan- it sound like you are going to have a sweet tire/rim combo there! let me know how you like them, im curious as i have decided to do a bit of a makeover on mine. might as well since the motor is getting ripped out...

i havent seen the mudlite sp. im going to have to check them out though i doubt i will want to get them, you never know!

Here's what the tires/rims came out lookin like. I love it!!! Just ordered a graphics kit and waiting on my Pro Armor nerf bars. The only thing is the Kenda Knarly 21" tires are really only 20" on a 9" wide rim. They apparently measure them on an 8" wide rim and that's how they get 21" tall tires. Oh well... next time I might try the GNCC 21" or the 22" Kendas and hope they aren't "too" tall.
