how long do i have to run my ex before i can do a plug check. as in hours or mins.

Anything less than 10 to 15 minutes will not show much color on the plug. I ran mine an hour before I checked it.

havent ridin it yet. pipe will get here thursday. im goin with a 158 main 42 pilot. open box lid with a K&N. im getting a HMF sport slip on. so ride it an hour then check it. should i ride like normal or is there a certain way i should run it?

Your jetting sounds nearly identical to mine. What's your altitude and temperature? With the 42 pilot my fuel screws at 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 out.
Here's what my plug looked like after a couple of hours. Paper bag brown is perfect. Black is rich and White is lean.
