Not sure if it's the same on the LT-R450 but generally the kill switch has one end spliced into the 12v wire going to the coil, and the other to frame ground.

When triggered it grounds out the 12v going to the coil (not a true short, there's a resistor built into the kill switch) reducing the voltage potential across the coil, cutting your spark.

What ended up working for you? I am in the same boat with a pro design kill and was wondering myself! Thank you !

I did this^^^on my LTR. Works fine.
Some will tell you that "shorting the electronics will kill this quad"
But no one can back that up with proof. Besides, you're not shorting the cdi, just the coil.

the best and safest way is to get a normally closed switch like the pingel or gunner and hook it to the orange wires.i had a pro design hooked to the coil and a ground with no problems but rarely used it to kill the machine.the possibility of spiking the ecu is there.be on the safe side

1. Attach the switch to the handle bar.

2. Connect the short wire (ground) to metal anywhere on the machine to ground it.

3.Take the long wire and connect it to the positive wire from the stator (usually found on the left or shift side of the machine)

hope this helps,
Landon

rocky mountain atv has a normally closed tether made by tusk that looks just like a pro design for only 19.99.
i bought one of these and it works great.

nice find.i think prodesign and them need to step it up and start offering a normally closed switch.it wont be long before all the quads will need them

so with the tusk you just wire it to the orange wires cause it looks just like my pro armor and pro design

I have the Pro Armor. So which wire do we connect too? Orange(solid) or orange(white stripe) and where did you wire it at??

i installed a pro armor on my ltr.to be safe i just ordered
there ltr install kit took about half hour to do everything.
the install kit plugs into the coil pigtail and just wires
up to your kill switch.
