I wouldn't buy a stocker again you will just end up bending it again and by the time you buy your second stocker you could of already bought a HOUSER. I own a Houser and I am very pleased.

I recently bent my stocker too. I decided to go with an aftermarket stem and I also decided to go with a different set of handle bars. I am hoping that my new bars will bend before my aftermarket stem does!

FYI, I went with a Roll Design stem and Tag 2 handle bars.

Note: If you order an aftermarket stem, they will need to know what handle bars you will be using. Some bars use different size mounting brackets. If you plan on changing handle bars in the near future, I would consider reviewing this with them for any mounting concerns. Also, they may ask you if you want a stock length stem or an extended length stem.

other people on this board have spent $300+ for aftermarket stems, only to have them bend during a roll (high side). you need to think about what the weakest link needs to be. you can get a new stem from servicehonda for a little less than $70. if you get a super-strong stem that won't bend (which i don't know if it exists), then you're going to bend your frame or something else. there has to be a weak link somewhere. just something to think about...

There was a thread about 2 weeks ago that I started. don't remember what I called it but someone gave a link to where you can get a used one for like $50. Go do a search for threads under my sign-on, and you will find it.

Why buy a used one for $50 when you can get a new one for that price?

Check serviceHonda - be sure to use the '02 part number (you may have to get the part number elsewhere)..... Same part, lower price.

Yes, you will bend the high dollar stems just like the stocker. The only reason to buy an aftermarket stem is if you want an anti-vibe clamp or if you would like it extended or moved forward.

Aftermarket stems will NOT bend like a stocker. They are much stronger than stock. I've been running an aftermarket stem since 95 and have never bent one even after sever crashes. I'm not saying they won't bend but they will not bend nearly as easy as stock.

I just bought a Roll Design stem for my 250R for $299.00. Chrome extended stem, clamps for Pro Tapers, and a bar pad. Like I said, all for $299.00! I got it from Moto-Man. 1 800 628 6686. WWW.MOTO-MAN.COM. Duncan Racing and Roll Design get $350.00 just for the stem! I have the same stem in my 400ex. It's been in there for 3 years, and it's as straight as the day I got it. Don't believe that weak link crap. You may want to cut down on crashing, though.......

ya a aftermarket stem is better, what bout if it doesn't bend in a spill. then what will bend??? your frame??? i rather buy a $70 stem then a$800 frame!!! RIGHT!!!

I would buy another stock one if you just bent it by crashing, and just be more careful. hehehe. But ya if your bending from hard landings and stuff def get aftermarket, but remember something has to give!!

Just buy a houser. Put a set of renthals on there and trust me the renthals will bend first, the stem never will.
