Any buddy ice race

im going to race my ex for the frist time on ice on the 28th and i studd some old hd's on c sires and i wonder if this tirer set up will work the backs are 9in and the fronts are ten and all the tires are hd's but the are worn. so i just want to now if i can get good accleration.

How many studs each tire? For racing you want any were from 400-800 studs per rear tire.

i ice race and i found out the best tire set up in my opinon are stock 250r tires. they have good size square lugs that hole 4-5 studs apiece. or the stock 400ex tires i liked to. i also buy new tires and stud them. my rears have 1600 studs total fronts 500 or so cant rember. let us no how you do good luck

I GOT ONLY 500 FOR THE HOLE QUAD AND THERE ARE 5/8 AND THEY ARE 18 BUCKS FOR TO 250 SO I STILL NEED ALOT A THAT SUCKS

i ice raced my 400ex last year and i used stock 400ex tires. i put 3 studs in each lug. up front i used kenda klaws and put 2 on each middle lug. i was happy with that set up and im going to use it again this year (if the lake would freze:mad: )
if i where u i would go get more studs 500 isnt enough.

Personally I wouldn't use HD's if I were you. With the HD's being 6 ply they are heavy as all hell. You don't need the meatiest tire for the ice anyway. They will work if it is all that you have, but they are far from the best.

I went the cheap way and studded my stockers. I put 350 studs in each rear tire and 120 in each front.

where in VT are you? you near lake champlain? we're going to probably do some non-organized ice racing near Swanton, probably will race at kings bay over here in NY in Feb if the lake freezes.
