I have builtseveral motors using this kit one is the 500cc on alcohol and the other one is around 542cc with the stroker crank. The power is awsome and they are both really reliable. As for cams we have used the hot cam stg2 and th HRC cam and liked both of them We are going to try the hotcam stg 3 next. We have also built an 06 450r with this kit which is 490cc and it is much faster than the 05 motor it really moves

I've personally built, and ridden a Dasa 500, 542, (both 05s) and two 06s with the 490 kit. The power is very flat and linear on the 500s, it's not really that hard to ride at all. the 542 is on methanol and it is a handful to ride. The 500s are awesome motors, and DASA can provide you with a cam that will work very well with that motor.

all the ones i've done we've put longer swingarms on, so they all got new chains anyways. I'd suggest you do the same, at least a plus 2. We tried running the stock swingarm on the 05 500 we did, and the thing just wanted to wheelie, so you're probably going to want to look into that.

All of the ones we built here used stock swingarms but they are really light in the front end when drag racing, If you want to be able to launch at full throttle you will need a longer swingarm.
