Last week i bought a '03 raptor shock and it works. I just wanted to tell everybody this because they only think that 01 shocks will work but you can make the piggyback rezzies work. All you have to do is cut the left airbox tube coming off the frame and it fits. So if you find a piggy back raptor shock for cheaper buy it becuase it fits also.

Ya but the tube you cut shows not structural purpose except holding the airbox up. And the airbox still stays up without that tube but to each his own.

isnt that tube the snorkel? If you cut it you would have to block that hole off on the air box Then you motor would be getting less air. If you dont block it off you could suck water in.

Has anyone thought of mounting the piggy back shock upside down. Will that fit? Its just an idea.

I dont run an airbox lid. Also you cant run it upside down becuz the piggyback is to long plus the mount would be to wide for the top.

dose a raptor shock help much????

Nice post.

I also do not run an Airbox lid. I'd just plug that hole up w/ a piece of innertube and the old hose clamp. Plus weld a cap over the new hole at the frame.

If you got really creative you could reroute that snorkle.

None the less a good budget option for those not running a watertight lid on their airbox.

Much better than the stocker.. and it's rebuildable, so for a fair price you could make it a great shock.

I run a Works Ultracross in the rear of mine. But if I was running stock shocks, I'm sure I would be looking at a raptor rear revalved, and stock 450r fronts revalved.

so if its a 2001 raptor shock you dont have to cut the frame right????

You are correct. The '01 will fit without any mods. The reason for my post is most people can find other raptor shocks for cheaper and cutting the snorkel will alow the use of any Raptor shock.

Correct.. the 2001 is a remote resivour (resivour connected by a steel braided hose) instead of a piggyback shock.

This should be a sticky for all the people who have questions.

Theres more of a demand for the 01s because of the 300ex riders that want them. I bought my 03 for $70 while a week before hand an 01 went for $130.

Front or rear?

Caseys 300ex
01-15-2007, 08:08 PM
If its rear it will not fit at all and theres really not possible way to make it work with out extreme fabrication.

lamonts 300ex
01-15-2007, 08:08 PM
both

I was gunna do this but i ended up finding a killer deal on a axis rear shock. I also dont run a lid on airbox, and when TT racing I run no airbox.
