i haven't decided on what year of 400ex im going to get yet. but if i get like an 04 im not sure if i should keep the lights because im not to used to the look of those round lights an if i put a hood on it can i still put lights on it an where?

you are only limited by how far you want to go with it. you could mount lights anywhere on the quad. there are companies that make lights (smaller) and bolt to the bar clamp. seems to be a pretty swift setup.
