Are you serious?? If your stepp dad or anyone for this matter spends that kind of cash on a Quad, IT BETTER BE A GOOD ONE..:D :D Yes, The Moto is one of the best ((RACE)) quads on the market today.. Now just rember, This is a Race Quad, Not a weekend kicker.;) If he wants a sweet trail/kicker quad tell him to spend the extra $6,000 grand he will save going to the cannibal on a good University for you to attend.:) I am getting mine in a few months.:p
Good luck,
Matt

moto440 is by far the best quad you can purchase for mx racing. It is even better than the legendary 250R. But like nonos said, it's only for racing. If he is going to just do casual riding tell him to get a 400ex. Best quad out there for reliability and fun!!!!!!!!!! But if he plans on racing, get the moto. He wont regret it!!!!!!!!!!

Would you really want to spend $12,450 on a quad and then just trail ride with it when you could buy a Blaze (which is set up for Trail racing) for 2K less? Or if you are just a casual rider and not into racing, you could buy a speed or cannibal for half the price. Also, at 50 inches wide, and very low ground clearance, the moto wouldn't be the best trail quad.

I just bought a 2002 moto 440. I also own a 265R and a 310R. The moto blows both of them out of the water. It is by FAR the fastest quad i have ever riden. I haven't got a chance to take it to the track yet, but, i flew on some open trails behind my farm, and it is sick! For racing, or FAST riding, the moto is hans down, the BEST!

Well, tell him to test ride one and if he feels comfortable on it, than yes, it would be the best MX quad that he can buy. DEFINITELY would be a GREAT choice.
I am really happy with my Moto, and I would reccomend it to anyone for racing, but it would not be a good choice for anything else. All around I think the Speed would be the best. However, for a full blown racer the Moto cannot be touched by anything else out there right now.:blah
Straight up rock star.....

The moto is one **** of a quad. I would buy it. if I had the money. Iys the best race quad out there.
Its no for a beginer. I seen poeple not that good on one and could make it go that fast. He proble could gone faster on 400ex. just because it easyer to ride.

He wants something faster than my z400 and my neighbors 400ex, and he saw one 15 year old kid with one at the motocross trax, and he liked it. he wouldnt ride it around our house just at the trax.

Dude, what else do you want us to say. By all the replies in this post, it's obvious that everyone thinks it is DEFINITELY the best MX quad you can buy. So we all pretty muchly agree that the Moto would be a AWESOME choice, so are you looking for a different answer or something?

Cannibal -
Usually around 33 HP at the back tires on a Superflow dyno
Usually around 37 HP at the back tires on a Dynojet dyno
Make sure you compare apples to apples.

How much does a moto have?

On the DynoJet, I believe the moto has somewhere over 40 RWHP.
For the superflow dyno, I'll list a few other HP reading so that you can get some perspective because the #'s are always lower than the ones most heard.
Honda 400ex - 21 HP w/ .0540 Power to weight
Yamaha Raptor - 28 HP w/ .0667 P - W ratio
Bombardier DS650 - 37 HP w/ .0741 P - W ratio
Cannondale Cannibal - 33 HP w/ .0868 P - W ratio
