take a dump , haha no j/k. Don't think about it to much , alot of it pertains to mental preparation. You know what you can do , just get out there and do it. you'll be fine.

i've never done ft but for my first mx race i was really nervous....listening to music really helped me....something that was loud and had a fast beat...good luck in your race:D

just dont think about it man. What i say is, dont do anything your not comfortable doing(in mx, with jumps) and if you dont do the best this time, theres always next time! So dont push yourself your first race!:)

Just tell yourself you are going for a normal ride and not a race. Also, once you get to the race keep that outlook and do not go ballz-to-wall out on the track if that is not what you normally do. You will get yourself hurt if try to ride too far outside your normal riding pattern. Worry about not making mistakes and not how fast you are going and get a good pace down and then build on that. I have seen way too many go ape when they get to the race and end up way over head and crash, etc...just ride your normal pace and relax. Worry about being super man when you get more experience.

Race the track, not the other riders. Work on making smooth consistent laps. Run YOUR line, increase your speed as you feel comfortable, the results will come with time! Good Luck!!!

i have done alot of races by now and im still really nervous before every one. i have to go to the bathroom non stop and sometimes feel sick but it all goes away the second the flags goes up. just stay hydrated, breathe and you will be alright

I always listen to some seriously heavy music...,y favorite song as of now is Left Behind by Slipknot....and just before i got ot the gates i chugg down a Monster Assualt. Then as the gate drops i pin it, and i come down to earth at the end of the race...usually i place in the top 5...All i can do is wish you good luck and tell you not to puke...it drains you of energy...:D

drinking energy drinks is prolly the worst thing you can do before a race.

take some motrin and eat a banana, they both help to thin you blood out so you wont get cramped so easily.

most of all have fun, the first race is always the most nerve wrecking.

keep it pinned my friend.

Good advice.

As others said, right now don't think about it.

Race the track, not the other racers.

Let everyone else go on the holeshot, then see how many you can pick off before the checkered flag. It'll take the pressure off you, and give you the opportunity to see what racing is like, and also the opportunity to see how you stack up against your competition.

Passing people is a rush!

keep it on 4 wheels
Race at your pace
RELAX
And remember,if nerfs and bumpers wern't meant to be used, quads wouldn't have them. :D

Eh its pretty much been said, don't let the other drivers drive you. Don't drive at their style and pace, thats how many racers mess up. Just think its just you, your atv, and the track out there.

All racing is riding your bike as fast and safe as you can with other people you just met. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't get all jacked up on energy drinks and music and any other macho "overcompensation for lack of talent" crap. Speaking of crap, take a good one before your race! Have fun man and let us know how you did.

Did i just hear thin blood is good? Grab a couple cold ones then. lol. Bad idea. Just stay calm. It all gose away once it starts. Ever been in a fight? just befor it happens you are one nervous sob, then once the 1st punch is thrown your good to go and the adrealin steps in. Same with raceing.

um yea, it helps you so you dont get arm pump.

plus do you even race?

you own a stock 400ex and your signature is all about bob marley and smokin pot.

just focus on improving yourself, not being a super hero, the more improving you do, the fast you can get, and thats where the ability to beat others will come in.

"take some motrin and eat a banana, they both help to thin you blood out so you wont get cramped so easily."

for that person;

that is idiotic to do that. as a medic all i can say, is hope u like pain. you screw up and need narcotics to calm the pian etc, you wont get any, cause u took a pill to be "calm". dont do that, maybe the bannana, but trust me, ud rather be nervous than scream in agony from a broken femur.

Listen people, take your kiddie fight to some other thread. This thread is for someone that had the courage to go out there and try something that most people only talk about doing. Keep it up honda4life72.

some american racers or hoosers should help you. how about a sway bar, and even one of those cheap lowering kits would help ya.
