I need some sort of hi temp sealant to seal the joints of the pipe. Is hi temp silicone the best thing to get?

Yes,
Permatex, has the high temp in red, black & gold in different temp ratings & will be at most auto parts supply houses.
The key to a good seal is have all the mating surfaces clean & allow the sealant to cure out a day or so before running the engine.
It wont last forever, but it will last a good while before you need to pull it down & repeat the process.
Remember,,,, if the pipes not sealed good where it connects to the cylinder, it could suck raw air as well as dirt back into the cylinder & seize the piston. Dont be afraid to gob it on trying to get it to seal.
