400ex carb

i have a 300ex and i am going to buy a 400ex carb for it. but i have few questions before i buy it. my first question is what size jet should i start off with i have porting and oversized valves i also have a 11 :1 compression piston and a web cam and a full exhaust system. my second question is the throttle cable the same as the 300ex cable and my last question is what do i have to do for it to fit ive heard i would need to modify the boot is this true thanks for your help

i have one on my 250x and yes the throttle cables are the same so any will fit fine.

whatever jetting you ran in your old carb just go up 1 or 2 sizes to be save and check it.

you have to modify the carb to airbox tube to fit the bigger carb(i ended up buying a clamp on filter because its alot easier to take on and off then stretching the boot over it

ya i put 1 on my 300ex and it has a similar set up as wut u have wow their is a huge difference in throttle response and overall power. i jst left the stock 400ex jeting in and it ran fine with a lil tweeke :blah:

480ex what did you have to tweake just the fuel/air mixture screw ?

ya i just left the carb stock and messed with the air/fuel mix.
