I don't feel the CDI is worth the $$$, but if I had the money burning a hole in my pocket I'd buy a GT Thunder CDI. Won't be cheap though.

I would avoid a re-packaged XR250 CDI...

Not to hijack but, 2 questions -

1. How impressed were you with the power gains with the piston / cam?

2. Why did you choose a stage 2? (Just talked to Hot Cams and they said Stage 2 tends more toward high end, and the trail riding I do I'm mostly hanging in the mid-range.)

I am extremely impresses with the new cam/piston. Its really exactly what I was looking for because I get more torque for the short bursts of open trail, and I have great top speed for runnin from the cops. haha just kidding!!!.......

hey i was just wondering.. that 10.1 piston, can you still run pump gas with that because i was looking at the 11.1 until i found out you have to run race fuel?

Where did you read you need to run race gas with an 11:1? I thought you would still be fine with premium(94) pump gas right up to that compression. Granted the gas now isn't what it used to be, if you needed to bump the octane of the pump gas a bit you can add some toluene to it. I have a chart somewhere on my computer for amount vs. octane/gallon - let me know if you want me to dig it up. Also remember if its a Wiseco your putting in you won't get a true 11:1 compression, it will be a tad below that, around 10:8 I believe without decking the head/thinner gasket. The Stage I from hotcams actually shows slight gains across the board. Hotcams does not make a bottom to mid cam contrary to popular belief. Stage II is lobed for more of a mid to top end cam and for a motor with some work put into it, such as increased displacement. Woods and trail riding is better suited to a Stage I cam IMO. Also, if you change out your rockers make sure not to replace them with hardfaced ones for the Hotcams install as they will chew up your nice new cam in no time. ;)

Its kinda up in the air with the 11.1.. Some people run good with premium and some have to run a 50/50. Depends on where you live too...

well i've found most of my info here on the powertrain site and some on the 400ex site. i ride from approx. sea level at dumont dunes cali. to 5500 ft. above at coral pink dunes in utah. as you guys can see this is a dune machine i'm putting together for my girlfriend/fiance. she doesn't want to have to buy racegas but she wants it to have more zoom up the hills :)

If it was item number 140074397610 then I found it. I've emailed those guys repeatedly asking if they had a box for an 06 and never got a reply.
