i would go with the elkas they have more options on adjustability like preload compression and rebound but just go to the websites and read up and go with ur gut i think u would bee happier with elka but its u not me lol

The Fox Float Evols will set you back about $1300. They are very comprable to Elka from what I hear and definitely have a weight advantage - less weight is always a good thing. As far as adjustability, contrary to what "mhsc527" said, the Evol versions of the Fox Floats do offer compression and rebound adjustability, and also preload, but it is adjusted through changing the air pressure inside the main chamber. Technically, the Evols are the most adjustable shock available for that reason. I would ultimately decide based on what I was going to do with the shocks. If I were building a MX quad, I would choose Fox because they seem to be working out very well for pro riders and it seems that MX is their strongpoint. If I were building a XC quad through and intended to ride more trails, I would definitely go Elka because that seems to be their strongpoint (in my opinion at least) and I am unsure how well Fox Floats do on the trails where I know from experience that Elka does very well, and pro riders seem to agree. Either way, I think you will be very pleased, but that's my two cents.

I took Elka Elites off of my kids Race Quads and put Evols on the frond and podium x on the rear, and he does not want the Elkas back on.
The Evols are way more adjustable than any "spring" shock, unlass you have a box of springs and spacers.
You can now get the Evols with high/low speed compression adj.

I would go with the foxs, I dont have either but I have read alot on this site and z400centrall that people have problems with their elkas and alot of people say they would never go back to elka after switching to fox. Sure you know this but if you get fox evols you wil need to them for the 450r since they dont make them for the z. If I had the money my top choices would be 1. Fox Evols 2. PEP 3. Axis

the elkas are good shocks as long as you dont buy them from elka!! If you decide to go the elka route buy them from a reputable dealer like gt thunder or the likes... Elka has poor reputation for valving and thats what gives them a bad name. Gt thunder will valve them for you (I think for free) if you buy from them.

Is this a serious question?

haha fox hands down. Elka sucks. the shocks are just not plush at all. I had elkas on my 250r and i would never even think about buyin em again.

i just looked on fox's site and the z400 is not listed under suzuki for the evols, only the ltr450,however you can get the floats which are still adjusted by air they just don't have the resevoirs and all that.i could be wrong though

No, your right. They dont make the evols for the z. But like I said in my previes post you can buy them for the honda 450r and they would work fine.

i have elka on my yfz and they are perfect. i weigh 140 and had them built to 160 rider. i think thats the trick with elka you have to go up a little over youre weight with full gear on.

How about a front pair of Ohlins shocks from 400ex I am pretty sure they will fit. Just serviced $650 these shocks are half of what you will be paying for those other shocks new. I did however purchase Fox Evols & cant wait to get out & try. Waiting for my engine to get done. Also have a rear Ohlins $650
