The E-series is bettter and not as loud. I have a E-series on mine and that is all, bone stock and my buddy has the R-4 with K&N and jet kit and I still beat him. Plus, his is way loud!!!!!!!

ok. i think there is not really any difference between the e and the r-4. besides the fact that the e has a disc spark arrester and the r-4 has a screen. if i were you i would get the r-4. i have it and it works amazing! sounds great, looks awesome, (stainless steel ohhh ahhhh) and i thik it rocks. get the R-4 man!

I know guys that have both and they like them both. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. :)

I have the R4 slip on and it is loud - about the same as the sparks pipe I had on my 300ex. I don't think it adds much power - just noise. I have raced XC with the stock and the R4. The stock pipe has more low end power. The R4 might have a little more top end but not much - I would spend my money on something else like shocks.

I have never ridden a 400 with the E series, but I have drag raced one on my 400 with the DMC. We were pretty close the whole race with more than one race. And my DMC is pretty close when I drag race my 400 equipped R4. The R4 seems to be louder than the very loud DMC. But I love my R4, especially when I think about price.

i think the R4 looks a lot better and it sounds badass too, not annoying loud but like deep rumble loud, go with the R

When I added my R4 complete exhaust system and Stage 2'de the air box, I gained bottom end and lost top end.

They are right, it is very much louder than the E-Series.

Didn't Dirt Wheels Magazine have a 400EX pipe shootout that showed the E-Series made better power overall than the R4? If I remember right, the R4 had better bottom end and the E-Series made better power overall.

I like them both. Either way, you are not talking about a very significant power difference... perhaps 1-2 HP between the two.
