I would use a tig because its more exact and you can really blend well...but you have to know what ur doing for it to come out right. If you have never tigged before i would strongly suggest practicing first...or have someone who is really good at it do it for you

Tig is the better option.Dosent heat up the metal as much as the others.A mig welder setup with argon works well too.

its mild steel, mig it and move on.

I think miging it would be the easiest thing for you to do. Just don't get it to hot and burn through the frame.;)

Mig my .02 if you know what ur doing and have had some welding exp. with tig that may be a good option for looks, and strength.
I think once u learn tig its easer than doing mig. Altho thats all i have available to me.

MIG. All the gussets I did on my 250r frame were done with a 220 MIG welder. Quick, easy, and it'll hold.

Just make sure the area to be welded is CLEAN and free of contaminates before you do the repair.

I would MIG it, there really is no need to TIG unless your worried about a large heat zone. If it were chromoly or aluminum then Id TIG it. If you want it pretty just know what your doing with the MIG and grind it down, itll look like its never been touched. When I finally get around to blasting my frame, im going to be doing all my gussets with a MIG, and I have a crack to fix aswell, and any other cracks, itll all be MIG welded. I also plan on finishing some of the factory welds they did on the brackets.

thanks for all the replies. i think i will just have him mig it, it is right around an existing weld so i think i will be better off for strength using that type of weld. plus it is covered by the plastic so it doesnt have to look perfect. Corey
