A guy I know has a 01 Raptor and he says it's stuck in reverse. I know nothing about raptors. What could it be?

BEHIND THE SHIFTER THERE ARE 2 WIRES 1 IS TO THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH NOT SURE WITCH ANY MORE BUT PULL BOTH OFF CLEAN THEM OFF PUT IT BACK ON,SOUNDS DUMB BUT THIS MITE WORK,CANT HURT,WORKED 4 ME MUD HAD GOTEN PACKED IN THERE.HERE'S PIC

I COULD STILL GO FORWARD BUT THE REVERSER LIGHT WOULD STAY ON THERE FOR THE REV LIMITER WOULD KICK IN.SEE THE COMPUTER KNOWS SOME THING IS WRONG SO IT PUTS IT IN TO THIS MODE.LOOK CANT HURT TAKE 5 MINS AND IF IT DOES NOT WORK YOU HAVE A SHIFT SHAFT BENT OR JAMMED UP.

nice to see there is only one reply that may help.

in any case... is he saying that the light for reverse just stays on or that whenever he tries to go forward it goes into reverse instead? i doubt that it is literally stuck in reverse, but he may need to rosk the quad a bit, that helps me if its a bit hard to take out of reverse. also is he new to the quad? for the rappie you have to pull up on the shifter to get it out of reverse. also, does the shift lever move at all?

my buddy had a warrior that would say it was in forward but only go backwards.he had to rock it back and forth while shacking the revers lever.i dont know if this helps but its worth a try.

Could be another 01 tranny that bit the dust. Have him make sure the bolts on the shifter arent coming loose, and make sure the clutch and cable are ok.

tell him to gear down when he pushes it forward. that usually works
