my canon video camera didn't come with software to upload videos onto computers. It has a usb connection. Is there any cheap software (or free) that will work good? It is a Canon zr45mc. It is like 4 years old, and it records onto mini dv tapes.

You may have to get a FireWire interface, I had to for my DV recorder.

What is that? hardware or software? How much does it cost?

if you plug it in, does your PC recognize it?.. if so, it should set it up as a removable storage device in your [my computer]..

click on your camera and open it up, then copy/cut and paste it to where you want.

I will look into that hardware. I can plug it into the computer but I had to install some software to get the pics that it takes off. The pics store onto a memory stick where as the video saves onto mini dv tapes. It doesn;t give me an option to copy/paste

Thanks for the help
