Hey WORCS 133: Can you tell me how far the rides are to the WORCS races? Where do you practice? I'm moving out there this year and I need to find some racing. I've been doing the GNCCs for 3 years so I rather ride woods or something close to that. BTW I'm planning on living south of Reno. Minden is the furthest south that I would live. There is a slight possiblity that I could end up in South Lake as we have a house in the family but there are not many jobs there. I also need someone to ride with. I do not know anyone out there.

we travel all over the west coast for the WORCS Series, some as close as California and Idaho some as far as Utah and Washington. Travel time is usually a day or so, pulling a toy hauler. As for practice there are several places Moon Rocks is a big one, I'm heading out there today to get some time in. Plus there is a ton of open BLM to ride on.

We are looking now. My GF's father has a place in So Lake so we are out there every other month. She is going out there in 2 weeks to look. She is a house appraiser so she is looking for work as well. But yes we need a realtor. PM me your wife's contact info. Thanks.

It's on it's way. She rides too so she can find you a place where the riding is close.

What setup are you running for the WORCS races? +3's, +1's What I'm trying to ask is how wide are the pros quads? 50" 47"? Is there a width limit? It looks like they are running 50" but with XC tires.

Yes I got it. She is going out there at the end of March she will give your wife a call.

Do you know how wide the pros set up there quads?

well for awhile during tech inspection, we had to ride through a gate to check for width. The LTR just barely fit so I would say that the width is 50". You can check there website and check the rule book.

yeah the WORCS people stopped doing tech on the width, but they have sound restrictions of 99dbs. The pro quads run wide like mx (50") and run the larger XC style tires, it works well. The WORCS races get pretty rough so steering stabilizer and all that stuff helps. You'd set it up like a gncc quad only wider to handle the mx parts of the track, none of the tracks get so tight that mx quads couldn't make it. Although up in washington we had some gncc style trees to weave through.

Thanks for the info.

I hope to move before the start of next year.
Maybe catch one of the last races this year.

Is there any local racing besides TT and MX in the Reno area?

The Northern Nevada Motorcycle & Quad ATV Flat Track Championship Series runs almost every weekend outside Carson City, NV.

AND we have a class for you - 200cc 2-Stroke & 250-350cc 4-Stroke Quad

Not to knock the local MX promotors but their focus is on MX motorbikes and they do a great job. But their tracks are built for MX bike suspension and their quad classes are all or nothing - that means that either:
1. All the quads that show up go in one class (from blasters to 700cc+ Open Outlaw)
2. OR if there is not a minimum number of quads (usually 6 or more) they won't run quads at all because they have a huge turnout (400-500+ bikes) and can't always fit quads into the event schedule.

Come support the local ATV racing scene! Why drive 5-12 hours to a WORCS event when great racing is just 30minutes from Tahoe!
