Hi all. I’ve been troubleshooting a ‘starting’ problem with an LT80 (2001). It will start, but seems to take quite a bit of effort (and battery) to get it going. Once it starts it idles with no problem, and seems to have quite a bit of power for an 80cc bike. If I stop it when it’s warmed up, I will still need to use the choke to get it going again. The air filter and air box are clean, the carb has been replaced (brand new). The CDI is producing spark, and it will jump a 3/8 inch or better air gap. No fuel issues either. The last item I checked was the compression. I got a reading of 70 psi cold, and hot I got a reading of 65 psi. I have not received the manual yet, but was told the compression should be around 80 to 110 psi. Does anyone know the compression numbers for this bike? Would low compression such as this cause a starting problem on a 2-stroke engine? Thanks again for any info.
BTW LT80-thanks for your last reply.
Matt

Deff a compression problem. No compression, no ignition of the fuel charge.
It should be 100+ with new being 130 or so.
