I used to ride trails on my 450r and it did good but it is really hard to go slow on it because of all the power it has and its made to be ridden fast. If you are a really calm weekend trail rider you might like the 450r for trails but in my opinion it is more of a high speed machine. So if you putt putt around a 400ex would probably be good or something around their not to make fun of 400's because they do good on trails also when I used to have mine.

I have a kfx 400 but what more and that is why I want a 450r. My friend just got an 04 and I love the way it rides.

Oh, okay cool. Youll definitely get more on a 450r imo.:D

If you like the way it rides, and obviously prefer it over your KFX is you are considering buying one, than why not make that decision yourself? I mean, in the end it is all personal preference anyway.

they have tall gears. you have to clucth it a bit in tight trails because of the gears. so you dont stall are chatter the trans . that was my problem when i first got mine. but it comes natural now. 05 had a 14 tooth spocket on front so i swicthed it to a 13 to stop the chattering but now i run a 15 tooth now and have no problems. just takes alittle getting use to. its a great bike for trails imo. but it sucks when you have to get off to turn it around because it dosent have reverse. some times you can spin it around if you got alittle bit of room. but it is awesome if you dont mind that.

well seeing as how i just got back from ridin, ill tell ya it has no patience to lug around on tight trails but the upside of that is the 1st gear is fast enough to fly through the thick stuff and uphills in a hurry if needed, and my prefference is estart (iv had it before the estart came out) but kickin it gives me a cool oldschool feeling but its all personal prefference.

just my thoughts

i haven't done alot of trail riding but i think it does a pretty good job handling them for being a high speed machine but yea it does suck having to get off it to turn it around if there no room to whip the back end around. and of course i have to ride with a friend that has reverse which makes me mad when i has to stop get off and pick up the back and turn it when he just sits in his and goes backwards:mad: but its worth it cuz i kick his @$$ on the straight aways but all in all it a good bike all round and yea i like the kick start myself e-start is nice but that much more to go wrong and kick start isn't bad at all

its great in the trails, the faster the better.
like everyone is saying, it begs to haul butt

the 06/07 dont turn as tight, but they already come with a 13 tooth sprocket.

and as soon as your out of the trails it really rips.
its great at everything, mx/trails/dunes.............it does it all
and does it all good.

A 450r is a great bike for the woods. You will love it.

All i have to say is if you like to ride pretty hard then you will love the 450. I just bought one 2 weeks ago and i came off a 400ex and i will never go back. The suspension the power it has everything. And to come straight out of the woods to Bull Gap a huge sand hill in the middle of a trail system in Mio MI and be able to kick the crap out of raptors its a beautiful thing.
