I might be buying two YZ250F's. One is an 02 and one is an 01. The 01 has a blown motor and i would rebuild it and use it as a back up bike for racing. I also have a 02 400ex that i just put a bunch of stuff into, but really not that much engine stuff. My question is...How difficult would it be to put the 250F motor into the 400ex frame and would it be worth it in the end. Also, would if i did the conversion would it be legal for youth production racing? Rebuilding the motor wouldn't be too much because I know somebody who is a mechanic for the Yamaha Factory team and i would probably only have to pay for the parts. Any opinions on this topic and any expierience with this conversion would be apreciated.

It would be illegal to run in the youth prduction class, becuase it is not a production bike. You can run them in any normal 300 class that does not go by the production rules. If you plan on racing it against other 300ex's and blaster it will be worth it in the end. If you are just a trail rider and a normal track rider then i wouldnt do it. They are just as fast as 400ex's, but I would rather have the reliability of a 400ex unless you plan on racing it.
