how do i check them that the question....

i am not sure. it should be somewhere under the seat. you can find out where the coil is by following the plug wire up under the seat. make sure it is plugged up and then make sure it is grounded properly to the frame

How did it lose it? What was done right before it lost spark?

i know where they are but the only thing is the coil isnt getting no power so it cant get no spark.

and second i had to strip the frame because i had to get it rewelded. it cracked =[

Did you paint it or get it powdercoated while it was apart?

Did you disconnect the battery before welding on it?

still need some help i know its not the kill switch or the key. the problem is that the harness is not giving out no power to the coil, for it to make the spark plug spark.

i ran a ordanary wire straight from the batter to the coil and it gives out the spark. so that means the coil isnt bad. something has to be wrong with the wires in the harness. if someone has any idea or is familar with suzuki's 05 ltz 400.
id be greatful.

thanks justin.

Best way to find an electrical problem is to sit down with a manual and a multimeter and start testing things.
Continuity between wires in the harness.
Unplug and replug everything back in.
make sure all your connections are good and tight,
CDI's are not usually something you can test, or are hard to test, most company's make you test everything else, rule them out, and if no problem is found, replace the CDI.
The most common problem i've seen is the Pick up coils go bad more then anything from what i've seen.

whats a pick up coil.

It's a piece that's part of the stator, It's what triggers the spark to happen at a specific time.

theres no spark at all.

yeah, if the pick up does not work, it never triggers a spark,
You really need a manual, and a multimeter,

but you should go back through the machine, i've over looked something VERY small before, and pulled my hair out for hours,
pull all the plastic back off the machine, start from the front, and unplug and replug everything,

But i do know on the suzuki's, if the machine turns over at all, the handlebar on/off switch is usually good, when they're off they are set up not to even turn over the engine.
doubt the key is bad, but weirder things have happened.

this is where you need a multi meter and a wiring schematic.
Need to check to make sure the CDI is getting 12 volts, i just don't know which wire it is with out the schematic.
Need to check continueity between all the wires, need to check resistance and peak voltage on the pickup, check to make sure the stator is not grounded.
suzuki's i have heard have a problem in the stators, sometimes the stators will ground out and will coz the engine not to fire.
To check that continueity is the best, but you can also unplus the generator wires, but leave the pick up connected, crank the engine over and see if it fires then.

Otherwise, your gonna have to get that manual and meter.

alright thanks i will check everything over tonight and get a manual soon.

this may sound crazy, but was the engine removed when the welding was happening? welding too close to the stator can ruin the stator. the magnetic field from the welder somehow stops the stators ability to create electricity. with an ohms meter, check the stator, then the rectifier, then take the cdi to someone who has the equipment. you cannot test a cdi with a multi-meter. there is a special piece of equipment for that. a larger suzuki dealer should have it.

in your original post you said that you cleand the sparkplug, have you tried replacing it?

everything off the machine was removed besides this little metal box that has fins on it and steam and thats about all that was on there then.

sounds like your talking about the rectifier, I've never had one go bad on me, so i'm not sure if it would not let the machine run, i would have thought it just wouldn't have let the battery charge,

I would check your clutch switch, your reverse switch and your neutral switch or even your run switch on the left handlebar side..If you are using an aftermarket cdi ( such as a dyna) it has some spare wires on it that are used for tach, rpm switch and other doo dads one of them might be grounded out and shorting out the cdi.. Oh and the little finned box is a voltage regulator...Im pretty sure 2 strokes have rectifiers...

i have a yoshimura cdi. and there is only 2 plug ins no other wires comming from it or no grounds.
