CR250 or CRF450

What is the HP for these, or the CRF- 150F and 150R? Also the 230F.

Also what hear would be around the power of a CR125?

I have rode a 2-stroke 250, and w/ my bike skills (also my height) I don't feel I should go that big right now. As for a 2-stroke 80, I have outgrown and sold that already. I think I prefer the power band of a 4-stroke. What would be the Honda bike for me? I'm leaning towards the 230F, but I don't really know.

Thanks.

Are you looking for just horsepower numbers, or a "power comparison?"

The CRF four strokes are monsters. They are just awesome performing bikes IMO. In the bigger bikes, there is about 5 HP more coming from the 450s compared to the 250s. In the 150 class, they are similar to 85s. If you felt outgrown on it, you will feel outgrown on the 150. As far as the differences, I would expect the R to be built for the track, more power and a faster reving engine, where as the F is a trail designed bike being a little more beefy and slower reving, though less likely to stall. The 230F is also a trail related bike, though probably better for larger riders compared to the 150s. The way the engine is designed it should be a more torquey engine, compared to the 150s which are made for revving. Power can be looked at either way in that case. The CR125 is a nice bike, though it is slightly underpowered compared to the four strokes. I would take a 250F over the 125 all day, especially the Honda 125.

For your case, I would say to go with a CRF 250. R or X, your choice....differences are similar to that of the CRF 150R and F and the CRF 450r and X.

Yeah, I was going to mention the CRF250. Somehow I forgot.

I was told the new 150R would beat the 230F. How does the 250F and 150R compare? And I know one is trail and one is more of a race bike, but still...

Well, the 250F and 150R are both motocross designed bikes, difference being the 150 is designed as competition for an 85 2-stroke and the 250 is designed as competition for the 125. I have witnessed the 150s on the track, and IMO they stomp the 85s, but are still far from a 250 level. You have to take into consideration, though...some 250Fs are pushing nearly 40 HP!

As for the 150 beating the 230, it depends on how you look at it, but it is very possible. I would imagine that the 150 for some people could give it a run for its money all around and possibly even take it in some instances, the way the engines are designed they are made to produce power. You have to realize though, to make it fair in terms of what they are designed for you would have to compare it with a trail version 150. For a smaller rider it would be fine, but the 230 with the larger engine will be better for pulling larger riders and for getting more out of the engine in trail type environments since the 230 would be easier to lug around and probably more of a torquey engine.
